Three teenagers have been arrested by the police over the kidnap and rape of a 70-year-old Memphis woman. It was gathered that two teenagers knocked an electrical meter off the woman’s home in the Hein Park neighborhood of Midtown, cutting off electricity, then broke in through a window.
The rape victim’s Honda Civic was also stole by the teenagers who kidnapped her, driving her almost 20 miles to the Oakhaven area near the airport. She was freed somewhere near the 2900 block of Morningview, where she knocked on a door for help.
ABC reported that neighbors said it happened around midnight Friday morning, and officers responded to the Morningview address around 1:30 a.m., where they found the woman.
The police charged a 17-year-old with two counts of especially aggravated robbery, aggravated rape, aggravated kidnapping and elder abuse. Police did not say whether that suspect would be charged as an adult.
Montarius Culp, 18, was charged with especially aggravated burglary, especially aggravated robbery, aggravated rape, aggravated kidnapping and elder abuse. A third suspect, 18-year-old Skye Harris, was also charged as an accessory after the fact.
This is coming just after we reported that South African teenager identified as Phumzile Mabope, was on Friday found guilty of raping and murdering a 95-year-old woman in Uitenhage at the Port Elizabeth High Court.
Disturbing details emerged during the trial of 19-year-old Mabope. In his plea deal with the state, Mabope detailed the horrific crime. It was gathered that on 23 February 2017, Mabope scaled a face brick wall in order to steal avocados from a tree on the Luyt Street property. He then noticed the door to the home was open.
As he made his way inside the home and began looking for items to steal, he ransacked the bedroom and moved onto the kitchen. While Mabope was going through 95-year-old Maria Vermaak’s belongings, she returned home.
The South African teenager told the court;
“As I opened her food cupboards, she [Vermaak] again returned to the house. She opened the door to a room when I unlawfully and intentionally assaulted her by grabbing her around the neck and strangled her with my hands.
