It’s quite commonplace to overlook the massive importance of music producers, even though they tend to do most of the heavy lifting. No matter how talented a musician is, it’ll be damn near impossible for them to rise above shitty production work.

Some producers like Killertunez have a very distinct sound that cuts across each song they produce, without ever sounding the same; while others like Spellz have great synergy with certain artists (Tiwa Savage), always resulting in serious bops.

While we’re happy with the eclectic calibre of music being released in the industry today, we would like the music gods to allow us orchestrate the kind of music we get in the future, using what we already have as a blueprint.

So, from Odunsi [The Engine] producing an out-of-the-box track for the star of the moment, Teni to Davido and Olamide coming together on a slinky Masterkraft-produced beat, here’s a list of artist-producer collaborations we would like to see happen.

Sarz – Reekado Banks

Sarz is easily one of the most versatile and creative producers working today, and his impressive catalogue is all the proof anyone needs. Reekado Banks is also an afropop genius, and we can guarantee that these two coming together on a song will be absolute flames.

Tekno – Runtown

Tekno is responsible for kickstarting Davido’s game-changing 2017, as he produced the monster hit, “If”. Keeping that same energy, we think that these two could make magic together, given the calibre of songs Runtown has put out since “Mad Over You”.

Spellz – Tiwa Savage, Niniola & Simi

We certainly don’t have enough female collaborations in the Nigerian music industry, and these three women are at the top of their respective games right now. Since Spellz is responsible for most of Tiwa Savage’s recent bangers, we think he’s the man for the job.

Killertunez – Poe & BOJ

Poe and BOJ have great synergy, which they displayed on Show Dem Camp’s 2013 hit, “Feel Alright”. If anyone can give them the room to create the biggest hits of their respective careers, it has to be Killertunez. We think he would push them out of their comfort zones for the better.

Maleek Berry – Nonso Amadi & Adekunle Gold

Maleek Berry’s vibe as a producer is as chilled and infectious as his music is. We would love to see him bring that same energy to a duet with two of Nigeria’s strongest male voices, Nonso Amadi & Adekunle Gold. We are positive it would make for some sweet baby-making music.

Odunsi – Teni

Considering how talented Odunsi [The Engine] and Teni are, we don’t have any doubt how strong (and unexpected) this track will be. Odunsi’s penchant for creating hypnotic sounds, in conjunction with Teni’s versatility is a recipe for success, and we can’t believe it hasn’t already happened.

Spax – YCee & Wavy The Creator

Spax, the genius behind Show Dem Camp’s Palmwine Music Vol 1 & 2, is one producer who doesn’t get as much visibility as he should. We think a Spax-produced song, led by the always great YCee and assisted by Wavy The Creator (on the hook) would be groovy AF!

Masterkraft – Davido & Olamide

Masterkraft is an OG in this producing game, and it’s only right for him to make a song with fellow OGs. We already know that Olamide and Davido work well together, as we’ve seen on songs like “The Money” and “Summer Body”. So, this collab feels like a no-brainer.
