Stern-looking security men are said to have taken over the Bauchi state House of Assembly complex on the purported order of Governor Mohammed Abubakar.

This development is coming at a time Abubakar ordered the immediate renovation of the complex to purportedly escape impeachment move from the lawmakers.

DAILY POST gathered that the lawmakers were said to be angry with Governor Abubakar when only six out of 31 members secured tickets to contest for their seats in the 2019 election

This development did not go down well with the lawmakers, and as a result, they allegedly resolved to move for the governor’s impeachment as a retaliation.

Impeccable sources within the Assembly complex, who did not want their names mentioned, told our correspondent that Governor Abubakar deliberately ordered for the renovation of the complex to escape impeachment move from the lawmakers

The source added that the lawmakers have been barred from officially sitting at the house, and that the executive are said to be using the Speaker of the house, Hon. Shehu Kawuwa Danina, as cover.

It would be recalled Abubakar had ordered the deployment of security in the assembly complex immediately after the APC primary election in the state, when he allegedly axed about 25 lawmakers out of 31 seeking re-election apparently to escape any impeachment move against him.

However, there have been protests by aggrieved APC aspirants who lost the ticket to contest, even apart from series of meetings with the Governor ended in deadlock thereby threatening President Buhari’s chances in the 2019 election.

Speaking to DAILY POST, the Director of Information, Bauchi state House of Assembly, Alhaji Lamara Azare debunked insinuation that the executive deliberately ordered for the house’s renovation to escape impeachment from the lawmakers.

He explained that the recent rainstorm in the state had affected the house’s roofing, saying the opposition were behind such baseless rumour.

He assured that there is cordial relationship between the legislatures and the executive arm of the Bauchi government.
